Activities from Villa Ouirgane.
OUIRGANE is an up-and-coming destination due to its proximity to Marrakesh and its stunning greenery, red-earth hills and pine forests, all of which combine to make it worth an overnight stay (or longer). It’s a wonderful spot to rest up after a few days of trekking around Toubkal and makes a pleasant base in itself for day walks into the surrounding foothills, mountain-bike forays or horseback riding.

Tassa Ouirgane Day Walk.
From Ouirgane the treks starts by passing througharable land with wild flowers, following the river valley then passes through a zone where small hills with open forest and through isolated Berber hamlets towards the traditional salt mines at Marigha, from where the salt is carried on donkeys to the neighbouring villages to be sold. Next the trek continues to the Tassa Ouirgane Valley via orchards near the huge forest of Takherkhourte. A picnic is normally taken at the village of Tassa, a fabulous panoramic vista of the entire Valley the horned Barbary sheep - and now on through the woods and sight of the Toubkal Massif National Park with its distant range of High Atlas peaks. Then we descend the slopes and ford a river to join a small path on the other side of the Valley, which leads us through stands of juniper and fir to the foothills of the Adrar Takherkhourte (2,309m).Finally the walk returns to Ouirgane through orchards and vineyards and the villages of Tourourd and El Khémis.. |
Tinzert Day Walk.
This trek heads south along mule tracks near a saline stream towards the village of Marigha Izdern (1,205m) then Imareghan Noufla (1,224m) where the intensely flavoured olive oil that is so distinctive to this area is produced using old stone equipment driven by mules and donkeys. From here, with the Adrar Takherkhourte (2,660m) to our right, we trek through countryside with a beautiful mix of field crops, wild flowers and olive groves via Berber hamlets to the little village of Tinzert where salt is mined from huge wells and then the brine left for the water to evaporate on salt pans. The return leg is via a pass, the Tizi n’Tarabza (1,706m), from where there can be seen superb views of the Tarabaza, Kik and Moulay Brahim plateaus with the Tizi n’Test Pass and Jbel Oukaïmeden beyond. |
Mountain Biking from Ouirgane.

These delicious treats are enjoyed while overlooking the amazing lake of Asni Ouirgane with magnificent views over mount Toubkal and the mountains.
After some rest and relaxation, we descend to the gorgeous plateau that sits protected on all sides by rich red earth gorges.
We continue along the terrain and road with a magnificent sensory overload of nature's beauty.
You will experience the foothills of the majestic high Atlas Mountains, blue babbling streams, fragrant pine forests and untouched salt mines.
