Agafay Desert Camel Trek

The Agafay Desert of Morocco sits on outskirts of Marrakech. The Agafay Desert is just an hour’s drive from the bustling souks, the Majorelle Garden, the Koutoubia Mosque and the heart of Marrakech. The Agafay Desert is an undeveloped area and is the perfect one-day excursion from Marrakech if you don’t have time to visit the Merzouga, M’hamid or Zagora Sahara Desert during your Morocco vacation. 
 The Agafay Desert’s landscape is covered with wheat, barley and flowers however in the summer and autumn months it looks similar to the real desert with flowing dunes and the bonus of majestic High Atlas Mountain views nestled just behind it. In spring Agafay offers up wildflowers among other flora and fauna which make it a scenic experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: pick  from your hotel/riad in Marrakech for a short drive of 30mn to get to the Village of Tafrashte from where you can pick up the camels, sett of for a 2 to 3hours camel ride, pic-nique on the way then get to the Luxury camp where you will spend the night.
Day2: morning Relax on the camp, lunch then transfer back with a 4x4 to Marrakech

Prices :

  • Group 1 person         :  On request
  • Group 2 - 3 people   : 190£/person
  • Group 4 - 7 people   : 155£/person
  • Group 8 - 12 people : 110£/person

Extra Notes:

  • Prices quoted are per person, based on sharing a twin room/2 person tent (unless otherwise stated). Additional hotel or riad nights after trek from 25 EUR p.p. twin/35 EUR single.
  • Trek prices may vary depending of the season (High altitude Treks).

  • Payment : can be done in € / $ / £  or MAD

NB : If accommodation is required in the Atlas Mountains either before or after the trek, we can always book you at our Guesthouse Dar Adrar in Imlil

Essential Equipment & Clothing:

  • Good walking boots and socks / good trainers
  • Personnel First aid Kit
  • Day sack/backpack
  • Head torch / headlamp
  • Ice axe and crampons (winter)
  • Lightweight waterproof over-trousers / rain-pants
  • Water bottle or camel back (recommended)
