M'Goun 6 Day Circuit

A Moroccan Adventure Awaits

From €470

6 Days In The Wilds Around M'Goun

The M’Goun Massif forms the most southerly of the three main ridges of the High Atlas Mountains. This spectacular high-level circuit through the Central High Atlas begins in the beautiful Aït Bougmez Valley, combining rugged mountain scenery with the fascinating culture and warm hospitality of the local Berber communities.

This is a remote and relatively wild region which, compared with the more popular Jebel Toubkal area, receives far fewer trekking groups and has a simpler tourist infrastructure. In return, you’ll experience a more peaceful and authentic side of Morocco, surrounded by spectacular mountain landscapes.

The scenery is particularly impressive, with extensive terraced fields, broad green valleys crossed by irrigation channels, shady walnut groves, unusual rock formations and colourful mountainside villages. Towering above this remarkable landscape is Jebel M’Goun, rising to just over 4,000 metres and only slightly lower than Jebel Toubkal.

The summit route is especially rewarding, taking you beyond the endless scree fields found on some Atlas Mountains treks and onto a spectacular high ridge. The trail follows a dramatic, undulating ridgeline around a vast mountain cirque before reaching the summit. With luck, you may even spot lammergeiers soaring above these remote high-altitude landscapes.

This trek runs all year round and can depart on any date of your choice.

We usually have several treks departing each week that you can join if you wish, so please get in touch!

All of our mountain treks can be combined with other Morocco tours and experiences, including trips to the Sahara Desert, the Imperial Cities or the Atlantic Coast.

What Is Appropriate Attire In Morocco?

Morocco is a conservative and religious country, which means you always need to be mindful of your clothing choices. This is especially true in the country’s more rural areas, which include the Sahara Desert and its surrounding villages. As a general rule of thumb, you should always attempt to cover body parts considered “private”. For women, this means covering the arms (or at least the shoulders) and the knees up. For men, it requires covering up the shoulders and above the knee.
