You’ll leave the vehicle on the road towards Imlil at Imi Oughlad (1,450m), where you’ll meet your Berber muleteer and guide. Your first day will be an easier acclimatisation trek through Ouirgane National Park. The terrain here is gentler, with copper-green soil and juniper trees, as you head towards Tinzert village.
Tinzert offers beautiful views over the Ouirgane Valley, where you’ll enjoy your first lunch in the Atlas Mountains. In the afternoon, continue walking down a beautiful small valley towards Marigha village, passing through olive groves along the way. Overnight at Ouirgane Ecolodge. Approx. 5–6 hours walking.
Day 02
Ouirgane – Ait Aissa
After breakfast, you’ll wind your way through the olive groves before making a steady ascent towards the Azzaden Valley. Wonderful panoramic views open up as you cross into the valley, and your guide and cook will choose a picturesque spot to prepare a welcome lunch.
After lunch, follow the course of the river up the valley, walking through several small, traditional Berber villages before reaching Ait Aissa (1,860m). Overnight at Azzaden Trekking Lodge. Approx. 5–6 hours walking, with around 760m of ascent.

After visiting the waterfalls, rejoin the trail towards the Aït Mizane Valley via Tizi M’zzik (2,500m), where you’ll enjoy spectacular views over the villages of Imlil and the surrounding Atlas Mountain range.
The final section descends to Imlil, where you’ll be welcomed with traditional mint tea before settling into your overnight accommodation at Dar Adrar Guesthouse.

What Is Appropriate Attire In Morocco?
Morocco is a conservative and religious country, which means you always need to be mindful of your clothing choices. This is especially true in the country’s more rural areas, which include the Sahara Desert and its surrounding villages. As a general rule of thumb, you should always attempt to cover body parts considered “private”. For women, this means covering the arms (or at least the shoulders) and the knees up. For men, it requires covering up the shoulders and above the knee.
